WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation Launches Large-Scale Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Campaign on World Menstrual Hygiene Day in Jharkhand

1

To mark World Menstrual Hygiene Day, WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation organized an extensive Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Campaign across Simaria and Tandwa Blocks of Chatra District, Jharkhand. The campaign was designed to improve awareness among rural women and adolescent girls about menstrual hygiene, safe menstrual management, and reproductive health while challenging the myths, taboos, and social stigma associated with menstruation.

The awareness programme was conducted under the leadership of Ms. Uma Devi, Director of WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation, with the active participation of Panchayat Mahila Mitras, Gram Sakhis, and community volunteers. The team visited villages and interacted directly with women and girls, providing practical guidance on maintaining hygiene during menstruation and adopting safe menstrual practices.

During the sessions, participants were informed about the importance of using safe menstrual hygiene products, maintaining personal cleanliness, changing sanitary materials regularly, and seeking timely medical consultation whenever necessary. The programme also emphasized the prevention of infections, proper nutrition, and regular health check-ups to ensure better reproductive health.

The Foundation highlighted that menstruation is a natural biological process and should never be associated with shame, fear, or discrimination. By encouraging open discussions and scientific understanding, the campaign sought to build confidence among women and adolescent girls and create a supportive community environment.

As part of the awareness drive, participants were educated about the early signs of serious reproductive health conditions, including cervical and uterine diseases, and were encouraged to prioritize preventive healthcare and timely screening. The campaign reinforced the message that awareness and early intervention can significantly improve women's health outcomes.

Since its establishment in 2022, WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation has been continuously working to promote women’s health, dignity, and menstrual hygiene awareness, reaching more than four lakh women through various community-based initiatives. The Foundation remains committed to ensuring that every woman and adolescent girl has access to accurate information, safe menstrual hygiene practices, and the confidence to lead a healthy and dignified life.

The campaign received an overwhelmingly positive response from participants, who appreciated the opportunity to openly discuss menstrual health and receive scientifically accurate information. WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation will continue organizing similar awareness programmes to promote women's health, eliminate stigma, and empower communities across Jharkhand.
