WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation distributed Urad (Black Gram), Maize, and various vegetable seeds among farmers in Chahaldandu, Sirka, Chanpi, Kudlum, and surrounding rural areas of Karra Block in Khunti district.
The primary objective of this initiative was to provide quality seeds to rural farmers, particularly farmers from the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community, and encourage them to adopt improved agricultural practices. The initiative also aimed to help farmers reduce cultivation costs, improve agricultural productivity, strengthen livelihoods, and move towards greater economic self-reliance.
During the programme, farmers were provided with seeds of different crops along with guidance on their proper use, improved cultivation techniques, crop management, and seasonal vegetable cultivation. Farmers were also encouraged to explore crop diversification and vegetable farming as additional sources of income.
The initiative reflects the Foundation's continued efforts to promote sustainable and diversified agriculture. By combining traditional farming practices with improved techniques and crop diversification, farmers can make better use of available resources and create opportunities to increase their household income.
On the occasion, State Coordinator Priyanka Kumari and Founder Jitendra Kumar Verma of WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation were present. They interacted with farmers and encouraged them to strengthen agriculture as a sustainable source of livelihood while making effective use of available agricultural resources.
The Panchayat Mahila Mitras from the area also played an important and commendable role in making the programme successful. They helped reach farmers at the village level, spread awareness about the initiative, connect eligible farmers with the programme, and support the smooth and systematic distribution of seeds.
WCSF CharitySpirit Foundation believes that providing assistance alone is not enough. True rural development lies in empowering farmers with the right combination of knowledge, resources, skills, and opportunities, enabling them to build sustainable livelihoods and become economically self-reliant.
